We’re paying for the mild winter and early spring-like weather here in the Keweenaw. Last week we were hit with a foot or more of heavy, wet snow, which closed schools for a couple days. Bob Gilreath made sure his bird feeders were filled for his feathered friends to eat through-out the snow event and he was rewarded with a Downy and a Hairy Woodpecker together, making it easy to compare the size difference in the two. Bob’s second photo shows a Goldfinch on the right side of the feeder, they’re actually beginning to change to their brighter mating color. That’s a good sign that this winter stuff won’t be around too much longer, but in the meantime, check out all the snow piled up on Bob’s vehicles and the lone track coming up his steep driveway. He said those tracks were from the UPS man. I’m guessing he walked up the driveway, rather than trying to drive up and be sliding all around or get stuck. Winter isn’t over until the last snowflake falls.

Since we have kind of a bird theme today, this Mourning Dove video from Get To Know Nature fits right in. Make sure your volume is turned UP, so you can hear their cooing sound and the whistling sound their wings make when they take off.

That’s a lot of fluff-n-stuff and in this case,
UPS = Upper Peninsula Snowman.
Nice pix, Bob…they look like they were shot
in black & white.

Nice pictures. I especially always like bird
pictures. Don't bother cleaning of those vehicles,
more snow on the way.

The sun is shining here...the back hillside is
bare. did it only snow in LL?

There is an old Finnish saying that means "The new
snow is the death of the old". Yeah, we got winter
so late...what is summer gonna bring? Weird
weather.

Charter Channel 689 is EarthX tv. All about the
planet all day and night. There's some excellent
shows on it, and it's Earth Month! Check it out if
you can. When they had that tennis match a few
weeks back, that they had to temporarily stop
because of bees....the guy that got rid of the
bees has such an awesome show on that channel.
"Charlie Bee Factory". There's also a "Killer Bee
Catcher", there's snake wranglers, weird recycled
homes, alligator catchers, etc...it's an awesome
channel. IMHO.

Donna, it hasn't snowed yet. Supposed to start
tonight I think.

Yes, blizzard warning for today in your neck of the woods! We knew it was going to happen, right? Those woodpeckers are going to need your help! Glad to see Bob is a 'wipers up' guy - we are too!

Deb, hope today isn't Ron's surgery. If so, perhaps it will be rescheduled. Be careful out there!
