Quietude... that’s what Steve Brimm found one morning this past week. Morning at Mango (Lake Manganese) is the perfect title Steve gave his first photo. Makes it sound kind of tropical, mysterious, all in one. If you’ve ever been to Lake Manganese in Copper Harbor, you know it’s a special place, one of my favorite spots on the tip of the Keweenaw. Steve’s photos all give way to the peacefulness of that morning... the leaf trapped in the ice, and the beaver dam, dormant until the ice around it gives way. Calm, quiet, peaceful, the perfect start to any day.

Steve’s last shot is quite intriguing, so much so that I had to ask him exactly what it is...driftwood, a dead tree, maybe roots? He replied that it is the roots of a long, tipped-over cedar on the backside of Lake Manganese, where French Annie Creek comes in to the lake. Interesting root structure indeed!

We wrap up our Manganese visit with the restful sounds of the water flowing there into the lake. Enjoy!

I agree Mary, Lake Manganese is a special place
and it was always a bittersweet moment because
it was the end of my ride on the Wing. I would
park the bike and sit on a large to rock that was
by the shore and take in all the serenity that I
could before heading back to Baraga.
Thanks for the memories.

Test post.

Mary says: YAY, Alex...it worked and you're back to being UP-Goldwinger again! Welcome back to your well-loved handle. :-)

Nice pictures. I'm not sure I've
ever had the pleasure of being
there. Another thing to add to my
growing bucket list.

Oh boy....back in the day...that was party central.
There's huge rocks blocking the road down in there
now. It used to be open, and people would drive
their cars in the lake...no problem...wow. My first
"Waptuli" was at Mango. Back in the 80's...The
Harbor was my backyard for a year or so....What
fun.

Nice pictures I could not open the video on my iPhone.
On top of everything else , Saturday I was not feeling good and
tested positive for Covid! Extended stay feeling horrible. Will be
here a few more days I guess, don’t want to be discharged until
everything is corrected Going back to sleep.

Sleep well, get well, U.C.

Deb: I highly recommend it if you’re
in Copper Harbor. It’s easy to get to
and the river that feeds Manganese
Falls runs right next to the road that
goes back to the lake.
D.A.: Yes…I think that’s the rock in
the second slide of the second link.
UC: What’s goin on Dude? It never
fails; you go into the hospital for one
thing and they find something else.
Hope you’re okay and out of there soon.

Oh boy, Uncle Chuck...if it's not one thing, it's another. Guess you're in a good place for the moment, to battle that now, too. More prayers coming your way. And hugs, too.
