Chris Hendra over at Chris Hendra Photography, spent some time in his blind recently, hoping to shoot some deer and that he did. Hold on now, before you get upset with him, he was in his photography blind, shooting them with his camera. He shares a variety of photos with us here today, several bucks, a fawn and a doe highlighted by the setting sun. I figured it would be a good idea to share some deer photos for our hunting visitors in case they haven’t seen one yet this season. You never know, they might need a refresher on what they look like. (wink, wink)
To make sure the deer population makes it through the Keweenaw winters, the Calumet Keweenaw Sportsmen’s Club feeds over 1000 deer a day. WJMN Local 3 TV station interviewed Richard Marsh, Secretary of the Club last feeding season. Imagine feeding that many deer every day. Cool pix! I think the spikehorn in #4 is looking for a smooch. Any takers, ladies? Get out the Chapstick. Excellent and informative video too.

Outstanding pictures. Wonder if that deer ended up with an apple or two? Great video too. I love how the turkeys got in on the act!

Hi I heard on NPR that in one of the states out west (sorry, I don't remember which) that mule deer and pronghorn antelope herds were hit hard by two consecutive severe winters. The story was that many hunters voluntarily did not hunt to try to give them a chance to recover.

Great shots of the deer! The lighting in 'sunset doe' is beautiful and 'appletime' is great too! Bet he did get a snack.

Kathy Laughlin: It was in parts of Colorado & Wyoming. Deer. Pronghorns, and Elk were adversely affected. And there were fewer licenses issued for those species in those affected areas.

Gary, I'm sure you're correct about the steps taken by the people who issue licenses. But I also remember hearing from hunters who stated that they chose not to hunt. I think sportsmen & women are generally responsible people when it comes to the resource.
