Things are finally looking like spring here around the Keweenaw, including the smaller ponds opening up, so the birds that are returning have their habitat again. It’s great to see the Swedetown Pond Swans back again, so regal looking, thanks to Debbie Jarve. Some of the bigger birds, like the geese and sandhill cranes have been back in the area for a few weeks already and I can only imagine they must have been thinking they came back too early when we ended up getting more snow and cold. But with the water opening up, more and more of the larger birds are returning. They’re like the snowbird residents who wait until winter has given us its final hurrah.
You might say that this week has gone to the birds here on the Pasty Cam. So stay tuned for more of the bigger birds that are back and active again here in the Copper Country.
Steve Brimm gives us a look at the melting ice along the shores of Lake Superior in Copper Harbor, with 20 Seconds of SUNday. Get it? The sun shining makes any day a SUNday!

So nice to see signs of spring. Swans are
so pretty. Very nice pictures. Loved the
video, too. We're thinking about taking a
drive to get a few rocks for a planter and
then another drive to Eagle River to look at
the falls. Spring is here.

It's about time; let's go Springtime. The seasons
and weather fluctuates as it always has. I remember
a story my Dad told me how he once saw it snow on
the 4th of July way back in the 1940's I believe it
was. So, same old same old.
