We have a Dennis family collection of photos snapped by Jeff Dennis, starting with his wife Chris standing at the top of the hill between Herman and Summit and Jeff asks the question, “Who has been to Summit, Michigan?” I haven’t, but I know another railroad buff that has! Jeff also wonders if anyone knows more about when the Copper Country Limited train got stuck in the snow at Summit, with passengers on it. He doesn’t know the year and is hoping someone has more info about it. Of course that’s Fritz on the tracks there too. He sure gets around... I hope he’s not turning into a railroad hobo!
Jeff’s fourth photo was snapped the night of the full moon and the lunar eclipse, luckily a deer cooperated and posed there with that beautifully, bright full moon. I couldn’t resist sharing the bottom photo of Jeff’s pets there on the shores of Lake Superior. I told him the other day, that I think he has the best view set up for any game camera I’ve seen, with Superior as the backdrop, you can’t lose.
If like me, you were sound asleep on March 13th/14th and missed the lunar eclipse, we have a short time lapse video from the Griffith Observatory of the total lunar eclipse that night/morning. It’s pretty neat!
Just a reminder, now that it’s getting a little warmer and the snow is beginning to melt, exposing our yards once again, you may be eager to clean up your yard. If you intend to do any burning, go to Michigan.gov/BurnPermit or call 866-922-BURN to see if weather conditions are safe for burning. It’s also a good idea to check with your local fire department to ask if it’s safe to burn and let them know you’ll be burning. Always use caution and check the winds, too. Winds can spread sparks quickly and turn a small fire into a large one in no time. Please be careful and cautious.

These are gorgeous! They've got such a great place to live. The moonlight one is my favorite. And the video was cool too.

Hey J T (Jtinchicago), In response to your comment yesterday, i have NEVER heard Black Rocks referred to as Pirate's Cove. But i have never seen more gorgeous sunrise pictures at Black Rocks either. Amazing.

Absolutely breathtaking. Our lil Mascot is living large...he gets around way more than me. lol..lucky lil guy....He is one happy pup...look at the smile!
GORGEOUS full moon with the deer...and I'm jealous.
Great vid, and THANK YOU for the burn reminder...I can't tell you how many times I've wondered "Should you be doing that???"....Used to have neighbors that made me wonder if the hood would remain.

Another great set! Jeff sure knows how to do it right. And I was thinking the same thing, Mary…Fritz on the tracks waiting to jump a freight train. The third pic is an illusion that makes the building look like Fritz’s dog house. Nice video too! Thanks to all…good stuff all around!

STRONG GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH: NOAA forecasters have issued a watch for strong G3-class geomagnetic storms on March 23rd when a CME is expected to hit Earth. The Russell-McPherron effect could amplify the effectiveness of the impact, producing widespread equinox auroras.

The lights have been quite active for a few days.
Here's hoping for clear skies if they pick up more.

Here's the view, early this morning, atop Isle Royale's Mt. Ojibway. That's the lights of Thunder Bay to the left.
Looking forward to the view reported from other locations.
