Stacey Flood and a friend did some Copper Harbor/Lake Superior exploring recently. NOTE: If you’re thinking of making your way there, the road to the Lighthouse is a “Private Road”, so it’s off limits to the public, but since Stacey’s friend has a cabin on the private road, they hiked to the Lighthouse from her place. The first photo is looking toward the Harbor from a different angle. It reminds me of an Isle Royale scene.

I’m not sure where exactly the two rock formation photos were taken, but what beauty there is along the shores of Lake Superior, most likely formed by years and years of waves crashing up on the rocks. Then of course the bottom photo is the Copper Harbor Lighthouse itself, sitting there on the piece of land jutting out into the Harbor. Definitely a classic shot of the beacon light.

Taking another adventure, this one to the Peninsula Point Lighthouse with UP North Adventures. The lead-in to the video gives a good description: “It’s a long narrow muddy road to see Peninsula Point, located at 3722 County 513 T Rd, Rapid River, MI. Peninsula Point is a lighthouse located at the southern tip of the Stonington Peninsula in Bay de Noc township in Delta County, Michigan. United States Coast Guard historical documents have over the years listed the name of the site as both Peninsula Point and Point Peninsula Little Bay de Noc. Also seen multi fossils while walking on the old ancient sea bed as the water was extremely low. It was a beautiful day to visit this fascinating place.”

DrNat and I had the opportunity a few years back to visit the point and lighthouse thanks to Sharon Smith who, sadly, is no longer with us. Since we knew it would likely be our only opportunity to get out there, we spent several hours just wandering around looking at everything we could, including the famous Le Roche Vert (Green Rock).

Really nice pictures! I love the
second and third ones, so
beautiful. It's sad you can't get
to the lighthouse unless you live
on that road. But we took a
charter out there from the Copper
Harbor Marina. It was so worth the
trip.

Nice set and a good reminder to fill
up your gas tank with Shell if you’re low.
I can just see Dr. Nat and Capt. Paul
out there with their fossil tools exploring.
Or perhaps that is not allowed with the
area being private property.

Very cool...yep...lots of "NO TRESPASSING" signs on
the big lake shores....

I too wonder where those 2 arches are located, near Copper Harbor.

The road to Peninsula Point has nothing on the much worse road to Point Abbaye.

I agree Donna. There are many nice areas, shoreline or not, that are being cordoned off by not-for-profit groups that are just a bunch of people banded together in the name of nature preservation. Except that it seems the members are the only ones allowed to access the land. OK, they own it but why should they get tax write-offs and everything else that goes along?

Beautiful pics and interesting video. I'm with Deb
second & third pics are fantastic.

Deb, glad to hear Ron is doing well. I think he
could probably skip PT and really work that shoulder
out in your backyard wrestling wit Da Bears!!! :=))
