One evening last week, JoAnn Crouch Testa was out for a drive and couldn’t believe her eyes when she spotted the low-lying clouds over Lake Superior in Big Traverse. The sunset was coloring them pink and even the Big Lake was picking up that pink hue from the skies. Quite the unusual sight to see, almost a bit eerie like maybe a storm was brewing. Thankfully JoAnn had her camera along and was able to capture these scenes to share.

Meanwhile, further north in Copper Harbor, Steve Brimm was also out with his camera capturing a similar scene, except his shot has a rainbow, a freighter and a lighthouse all surrounded by the pink hues of the setting sun. That’s quite a shot and worthy of printing and hanging on a wall. Check out Steve’s page for contact information if you’re interested in purchasing any of his artwork, here: Steve Brimm

Today’s video from BBC Earth is a fun reminder that the bears around the U.P. are waking up and probably quite hungry, so if you don’t want your bird feeders destroyed, make sure you take them in at night. We have game cameras set up on our property and had photos last week of a mother bear and three last year cubs. Thankfully we had all but the milk jug feeders put away, so they only carried off two milk jugs. The bears in the video aren’t stealing feeders, they’re just “itching” themselves to music. Dancing bears!

Absolutely stunning photos today. Both JoAnn and Steve were certainly in the right place / right time to capture those.

These are all so good! How lucky
for JoAnn to be in the right place
at the right time. And I just
love the one with the freighter
and lighthouse. Those are two of
my favorite things.

OUTSTANDING....but boy, I'd have thought
"THE END" was coming. (That's what my Gram always
was telling us.) AWESOME pics!!

Cool vid..can you imagine how itchy you'd be after
laying down for 6 months?? That's GOT to feel so
darn good!!

What surreal looking pictures!!! Without context you'd think maybe a dust storm or???

And the bears - man, looks at those claws!

Just read the note about Alex. So glad to hear you're home Alex - still sending those prayers for you to regain your strength. Which reminds me - hey, Deb, how is Ron doing with his shoulder rehab? Praying he's doing well too!

Jbuck, thanks for asking. Here's
Ron's latest fb post for those of
you who don't do fb.

3 weeks out from shoulder
replacement surgery. Things seem
to be going good, we'll see how
good once PT cranks up. Got a
heck of a scar, probably going to
match the ones from the knee
replacements. Happy that the snow
seems to be done for the season.
Have to wear the sling for another
3 weeks, no driving till that's
done. Deb's doing a great job of
keeping me fed and playing
chauffeur. Even my coffee is
ready in the morning! Time to
crash for the night. (Sleeping in
the sling sucks)
