Taana Blom recently captured these shots of a halo around the moon from her Chassell home. She calls it her view from the front porch...what an awesome location for so many different scenes. The cloud cover adds to the photos, giving it more of a glow around it all.

I did a bit of searching and found the following info on Space.com about moon halos. Interesting to know what creates this beauty.

“The moon’s halo or lunar halo is an optical illusion that causes a large bright ring to surround the moon. This striking and often beautiful halo around the moon is caused by the refraction of moonlight from ice crystals in the upper atmosphere.”
Today’s video treat is from Jacqueline Rendell Music. Her lead-in says: In the midst of winter I'm dreaming of the colours of spring. Dream with me...” Here in the Keweenaw, we are back and forth between winter, spring, winter again...so, I’ll dream with her for a few minutes!

Beautiful pix and an amazing video.
February snows bring March winds,
March winds bring April showers,
April showers bring May flowers.
What do May flowers bring???
…….
Pilgrims!!!

That's a good one Alex...

Gorgeous Video!

Pics are awesome....Gram used to say, "if you count
the rings you see around the moon...that's how many
more snow storms are to come!" Sorta looks like
two.

Crocus's grow saffron....but it's not this kind.
sniff. That stuff is soooooooooo expensive!

Where did saffron crocus come from?

The domesticated saffron crocus, Crocus sativus, is
an autumn- flowering perennial plant unknown in the
wild. It probably descends from the eastern
Mediterranean autumn-flowering Crocus
cartwrightianus which is also known as "wild
saffron" and originated in Crete or Central Asia.

Hi
A beautiful video, that doubtless took a lot of
work & artistry. Calling it "Ode to Spring" made
me recall a poem by Archibald MacLeish called Ars
Poetica. Some excerpts from the poem:
"A poem should be wordless
As the flight of birds"

"A poem should not mean
But be."

I'd say the video passes on both counts.
