Debbie Jarve was taking a walk one day last week and encountered a Bohemian Waxwing, so she snapped a few great shots of it. We had one from another photographer on the Pasty Cam back on February 7th, too, in the Three Lakes area, but from what I’ve read, they aren’t real common in this area. The Bohemian Waxwing differs from the Cedar Waxwing, in that it has a gray belly and a cinnamon color under the tail, whereas the Cedar Waxwing has a yellowish belly and white under the tail. Also the Bohemian Waxwing, while perched, has a white bar across the dark wing feather...the Cedar Waxwing does not have this white bar.

Check it out...Debbie spotted a robin on her walk, too, so that’s a sure sign that spring is just around the corner. I’ve been hearing a lot of seagulls (another spring sign) and saw our first geese last week, too. Plus, my hubby said he saw a Sandhill Crane in our field, too. Yep, spring is on the way, folks!

Today’s video from Robert E. Fuller shares the sound of a fox barking. The lead-in to the video says: “Listen to the sound of this red fox call. This barking noise is being made by the male red fox I have been following. You can hear him call and another fox respond. I've only ever heard dog foxes make this particular noise before and I think its a territorial sound.”

Sweet tweets!
Cool video too! Sounds like
a call for a foxy lady.

Those Waxwings are just gorgeous birds. Lots of
beauty there. The fox looks like he's taking a
leak. lol

Cool vid...I chatted with a gent once, that handfed
a fox. Their teeth grow a little backwards..so if
they bite or feed, no option but to tear...that was
interesting.

Those birds are just spectacular!
I love birds and what a treat to
see this one. We've seen a robin
also. Such a beautiful sight. And
aren't foxes so darn cute? It was
fun listening to it.
