906 Images has done it again! He captured some amazing shots of the thick coating of ice around Presque Isle in Marquette. Someone mentioned that he should watch his step out there, to which he replied that he always wears spikes and is careful of how and where he steps. We’re all blessed that folks like 906 Images get out there to capture the icy wonderland like this, for those that could never venture out to the slippery shores of Lake Superior this time of year. These frozen coatings on Superior’s shore were created by the 20+ foot waves and 50+ mph winds that the Marquette area experienced during the storms last week. A gift of beauty for enduring the storms that nature provides.
With all the talk of storms and the frozen wonderland views, 906 Images also calms things down with a peaceful vision of the cove near the Blackrocks at Presque Isle. This is the spot where the daring jump into the Big Lake in the summer months. I wouldn’t try that now, folks (not that I would in the summer, either)!

Beautiful set! Love the pix that are washed in blue. I’m guessing that they were shot at dawn before the sun came up. And yes…a calm, but icy chilled video. I’m wondering how long I could stand barefoot on that shore before the ambulance showed up. Many thanks 906 from 248B.

What great pictures! Who'd believe that the drab winter months would have so much beauty? Thanks to 906 for the great pictures and video.

Hi The pictures are in what could be called a winter color palate of blue and white. I like the picture called Icy Coating because it's in the sunshine.
Deb S, to me the winter months are drab when there's no snow cover. Of course, having sun helps. The Great Lakes are why we have cloud cover; but they also keep us from being quite as cold as Minnesota or Wisconsin.

I LOVE that first one with the sun shining...We live in pure beauty...no matter what time of year!

Beautiful COLD pics!! The video is very soothing, gotta love the sound of the waves!! Vic and her mom are headed to FLA to visit her sister/daughter in February for 3 weeks, would like to head up with Marty but not sure who I can get to watch the dogs that I trust. We'll see if we can put this together.

"Nature Meets Artist" photos always seem to be my favorites.
Good points Kathyrn, But of course that same extra cloud cover consistently squeezes out its excess moisture on you.
D. A….It’s the mystery of all mysteries, the conundrum of all conundrums, 248B is my…………..room number. :) And yes, there is a 248A, but it’s vacant. And UC…”put it together.” Take in every moment of UP while you can, brother. And may your journey be a safe one.

Unc...bring the dogs if you can't find someone. Bring them U.P. with you!

Yes, for rent…if you’re looking for an assisted living facility that will take everything that you own. If you’re a trust fund baby then you’ve got no worries. Unfortunately, that’s my situation. But it’s all good, I’ve got a strong faith and the Lions are in the playoffs. Even if they don’t win today they’ve given us one heck of an exciting season.

Is 248A available for rent or sale?

OOPS! Double post.
My sister is already in that situation. The State of IL is about to take all the profit from selling her house. I'm not quite there yet.
Best of luck with the Lions. 14-7 in the lead as I write this. When I lived in Livonia my family would always go to Briggs Stadium for the Thanksgiving game.
