Lots of folks start decorating for Christmas right after Thanksgiving and one of those doing so, is the Houghton Waterfront decorating crew. Jeff Dennis snapped a shot of the lighted tree that’s on display on the Waterfront there in Houghton. It looks to be quite a big one and I’m not certain if it’s a permanent tree there or one that was brought in to decorate there. But either way, it sure looks nice with the backdrop of the Portage Lift Bridge all lit UP, too. Jeff’s next shot has the same backdrop and a regal looking Fritz, posing so nicely with the lights and the reflection of the Bridge. What a handsome guy Fritz is!

Jeff’s bottom photo came from his game camera that he has set up at their Little Traverse Camp. Check out those Bluejays flying by with the camera capturing them in motion. Looks like Jeff also brought their Halloween pumpkin out there for the deer to gnaw on, too.

We join Brian & Heather Outdoors for a look around the little town of Freda and the Champion Mill ruins there. They also give us a look at the sandstone cliffs along the Superior shoreline.

Beautiful shots - Fritz poses so perfectly (as do the blue jays).

Did anyone else detect a major lack of enthusiasm on Heather's part in the vid? What was the name of the restaurant in Freda? It has been closed a long time now.

Beautiful shots indeed, Jbuck!
Fritz looks like a stuffed animal laying there.
I especially like the Blue Jay pic.
Good job as always, Jeff…thanks!
I couldn’t get the video to run, so I can’t comment.

Jbuck, the name of the restaurant was Superior
View and my cousin owned it. When he closed down,
he opened the Bed and Breakfast up there. And yes,
talk about lack of enthusiasm. Perfectly put. She
didn't sell it very well, and it's sad because
it's a very cool place.

These photos are awesome. I can't pick a favorite.
I love them all.

Beautiful stuff..those pics are stunning.

I remember eating at that restaurant...some of the
best food on the planet....home made, just
awesome!!

I liked the vid. Quite interesting...lots I sure
did not know.

Very cool Deb! The last time we were in Freda the restaurant had just closed for the season. We were so disappointed! Does he own the Freda Cliffs B&B?

Heather just seemed as opposite of Alexis Dahl as you could get!!

Jbuck, yes he does own it. I'm not sure what's
going on with it because I think he's having some
medical issues. But it's a nice place. And yes,
Donna, the food was fabulous!

Jbuck, you made me chuckle with the Alexis
comment. Nothing could be more true, lol. Good
thing I already know what a great place it is.

All 3 pics are beautiful, but the second one is
classic!! Kinda like, where will Fritz show up
next!!?? Great job as usual Jeff,... gotta love the
FRITZ!! :=))

It's great to see Christmas season starting and also that it's AFTER Thanksgiving. It seems the competition to start earlier and earlier has spread like wild fire. It somewhat recently started to be at Halloween in most retail places but I've seen it start even sooner. Maybe Labor Day soon?

I think Heather was just cold and tired.
Back in the early 1970's, I remember climbing around the mill ruins in Freda when much of the old building was still (sort of) standing. It was a very popular place to explore. I can't remember when it was cleaned out to it's present situation, probably for safety reasons I imagine, that and they mostly likely got a grant from somewhere.
