Jean Dessellier snapped today’s first three photos in their apple orchard in Traprock Valley. She said it’s a good year for their nine trees, producing abundant fruit that’s keeping Jean busy making crockpot applesauce, apple pies and apple crumbles, plus the deer love them and they love to watch the deer. We enjoy seeing their backyard visitors here on the Pasty Cam, too, so all those apples are a win-win for us all!

The fourth apple photo is from Sally Beaudette. I don’t think I’ve ever seen apples in a bunch like that before. They look like a cluster of grapes there are so many. That branch alone will make many pies and crisps...yum! Looks like it’s a good year for apples all around the Copper Country.

Meanwhile, UP in Copper Harbor, Steve Brimm captured a video of a Downy Woodpecker pecking away at a Mullein plant. It must know there is medicinal value in the flowers and leaves. The oil extracted is known to treat earaches, eczema, inflammation, cough and even pain. And here all along I just thought that plant was a flowering weed. Interesting.

Man, do those apples look tasty!
That Mullein plant looks like a giant corn dog
and if the oil helps with inflammation and pain
then please sign me up for a six pack subscription.
UC…you’re the expert on this, what’s your thoughts?
Love the pix and video!

Oh boy...gorgeous pics, but big abundance in fruit
and veggies, means big abundance in winter! Snow
is coming!

What a gorgeous vid...I love it....and it's not
only mullein...almost all our plants are
medicinal. Some may not be good for us, but they
will be good for the critters and birds.

Check into essential oils too...medicine in a
bottle. I get muscle cramps so bad, and typically
a drop or two of Wintergreen oil will stop it
instantly. Peppermint oil works awesome on
headaches and tummy aches....EO's are amazing!
They are all over in my house!~

Check this out:

In high school football last night…
• Lake Linden-Hubbell snapped North Central’s 41-
game winning streak with a 28-25 victory. Danny
Marcotte connected with Sammy Roberts for a 45-
yard touchdown with 1:30 left in the game to seal
the win. Marcotte completed eight of 14 passes for
184 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Roberts ran for 85 yards on 17 attempts. The loss
was the first for the Jets since they fell to
Pickford in the 2019 playoffs. The streak included
three consecutive Eight-Player Division Two state
titles.

Just think...Lake Linden beat them, for the FIRST
TIME since 2019!! CONGRATULATIONS TEAM! That is
HUGE! (And Mary's grandson plays on the team!)

These pictures are great! Sally's bunch of
grapes is amazing! We've been trail riding
and there are apple trees all over the
place. So we've picked quite a few and have
had apple crisp, apple pies, a few batches
of apple jelly and apple butter. And the
deer are eating well. Plus we've gotten to
eat apples while riding. Some of them are so
very good.

At first I didn't see the woodpecker. Very
cool. And how 'bout that Lakes football
team? So exciting and what a beautiful night
to watch football!

Woo hoo!!! Congrats to Lake Linden-Hubbell! That is really something to be proud of!

Have never seen apples in a bunch like that! When i see pictures of the abundance of apples you can understand why our forefathers set aside a day for Thanksgiving. A crop like this of apples that would keep well would bode well for keeping the family fed during the tough Winter ahead.
