We’re joining H. Donn de Yampert for a drive out to Bootjack where he encountered a field of green, with two lone trees standing as sentinels in the middle... one alive and green, the other looking like it’s seen better days. Scenes like this always make me wonder if there was a special reason the farmer didn’t cut those two trees down to make it easier for planting or making hay, without having to go around them.

Donn also captured a shot of the Fire Department spigot where the Firemen hook up a pump and fill the tanker truck with water to fight fires where there are no fire hydrants to supply the water to fight the fires. Tools of the trade that most of us don’t know about, but are thankful they’re in place to put out fires when needed.

The last stop today is out at White City for a good look at the pier and the Keweenaw Waterway Lower Entry Lighthouse. If you’ve always dreamed of owning a Lighthouse, this is your chance. It’s being auctioned sometime in August 2023, due to the previous steward's inability to comply with the requirements of the National Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000, the light is now available for purchase through public auction. You can read more about the auction here: Real Estate Sales.gov

On this episode of Discovering we’ll find out more Alberta Village Sawmill and the efforts to preserve it, along with the Copper Country Boat Tours and what they offer on the Portage Canal, seeing the sights from the water.

Nicely colored pix and an interesting video. Alberta is getting a lot
of P.R. this week.

Nice pictures. We don't hit white city very
often. I remember when I was younger, there
was a lonely pine tree in the middle of a
field as you turn on the mud lake/little
traverse road, I think. It stood for years.
I don't know what happened to it, but every
time we passed we talked about it. Memories.

Deb..that tree had a name...wasn't it called "The
Lonesome Pine". I know exactly what you are talking
about.

I'm so addicted to Discovering. That was a great
show. That boat tour looks cool too.

Henry Ford also built that little town in
Pequaming. There's the huge water tank that still
says "FORD"...there are lots of buildings and
people still live there. It's a beautiful place!~
