Nancy Haun captured this Eagle taking care of two Eaglets in the nest near the Ravine River in Baraga County, this past weekend. You can just see those little baby heads peeking over the nest, waiting for their feeding. I did a little research, as I was wondering if they are fed by the female or the male Eagle and this is what I found on the JourneyNorth.org webpage: “Eagles do not regurgitate food to feed their young like some other animals do. During the first two weeks, the male provides most of the food. After 3 or 4 weeks, the female provides as much food as the male, and by the late nesting period, the female provides most of the food. Eaglets are fed 1-8 times a day.” That means both Mom and Dad are kept pretty busy taking care of their young Eaglets. Fun for us to see them so young like this. Good thing Nancy has a good telephoto lens to capture it all.
Our video today isn’t Eagles, but a flock of Geese that Beth Jukuri spotted in their water filled field near Chassell. She said lots of geese come and float in the spring water of their fields each year and she was hoping that she didn’t disturb them, but they got spooked. That made for a neat take-off in the video, though, complete with plenty of flapping and honking. I’m sure they found another good spot or circled around and settled back down in Beth’s field again, once she was out of sight.

Such cool pictures. We had Eagle nests near our house in Minnesota. They are so cool to watch.
We were sitting outside with the neighbors on one of our warmer evenings, and all of a sudden you could hear them coming. There were many flocks of geese flying in. It was such a welcome sight and sound. And then winter came back, lol.

The Geese....that IS the sign!!
Saw a lot of Eagles while in Baraga...and what a site they are! I went into the Ojibwa campground one morning and got to sit and watch Mom teaching the little ones to play...it was just so stunning!
And Mary, I will never forget your Geese Speech at the Lake Linden graduation so many years ago! THAT was so awesome!

Yes, the geese bring spring along with them. Nice to see them back again.
