We visited the same scene in Marquette’s Lower Harbor, a little over a year ago, on February 19, 2021. The ice was clearer than it was this week when Jeff and Walter Dennis were there with camera in hand and drone ready to fly over with a bird’s eye view of the old ore dock and the skaters that were gliding along.
Jeff actually snapped the photos from ground level, walking in and through the old ore dock, along with a few of the skaters and even a few folks playing hockey. The Dennis family walked along the outside of the ore dock, too, pretty neat and much less treacherous when the water is a frozen mass, than worrying about falling in the water.
Walter took the first photo with the drone and then flew over the dock and through it, right down the middle. Really neat perspectives of a piece of Great Lakes Shipping history. Scenes we might not otherwise get to see.
Wishing you all the luck of the Irish this Saint Patrick’s Day
