Nancy Haun was quite excited when she spotted a female Cardinal at her feeder recently and was anxiously waiting for her to bring her colorful male partner there too. Sure enough, just a few days later, they both showed up at her feeder and Nancy was able to get a few pictures of them. Cardnials are not regular visitors in the area, so it was an exciting day in Skanee. The pair only stayed a short time and Nancy figured that was it for seeing them, but then a while later they both stopped in for more seeds and stayed around longer. Maybe they’ll become regular visitors at Nancy’s feeding station now.
I don’t really know very much about Cardinals, so I found today’s video interesting with some facts about these beautiful birds, from Michigan’s Animals.

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology has a great page on Cardinals and all birds. Lots of good information.
Beautiful bird pix! I did some research myself and there is a lot of info available on the Vatican website.

They have long been my favorite. I'm not sure what happened to the Cardinals around here this Fall, but the weather patterns have been weird. My Hawthorne tree always draws them when the berries ripen, sometimes by the dozens but this year was near zilch.

Dozens?!!! DOZENS?!! I'd be in heaven to see that many of these beautiful birds at the same time.
Alex, what does the Vatican site say about the female cardinals? ;-)

Their non-existent JBuck...but that's okay, because the males are not allowed to have chicks anyway.
