Lake Superior is a BIG Lake, more like an ocean, but without the salt and sharks. For some folks, like Judy Byykkonen, it’s one of her favorite places to be! Today she shares some photos of an excursion to Gitche Gumme last week, when the water was calm, the rocks were plentiful and she was able to spend some time enjoying the water. It really is a magical place to be there on Lake Superior’s shores, no matter if she’s raging or calm like in Judy’s photos. This day Judy was there had perfect conditions for agate hunting, too. When you can see the rocks plainly in the water like that, it’s easier to spot them. If you’ve had a stressful day, head to the Big Lake and the calm will overtake you.
We have a video from Jason Asselin today. He titled it “Lake Superior Pop Rocks”, because he thought the sound of the passing waves on the rocks, sounded like the candy Pop Rocks kids eat that make a kind of crackle sound in your mouth. It’s a peaceful sound.

Magnificent pix and video! So just how many rocks did you identify, Capt.?

One of my husband's favorite thing to do is
pick rocks on the shores of Lake Superior.
