Welcome back to the big boats and the sailors that keep them going! That’s right, the freighters are once again sailing Lake Superior and Danielle Adams was on hand to capture the first one of the season in Marquette Harbor, the Victory Tug/Barge Maumee last Friday. It’s nice to see freighter traffic again and I haven’t heard much about ice conditions on Lake Superior, so I’m hoping it all looks as clear as the harbor photos here today.
The Kaye E. Barker made it’s first appearance of the season on Sunday. You can see the weather was a bit foggy. We had rain and wind all day Sunday in the Keweenaw, so I hope it wasn’t too rough out on the Big Lake for these boats.
Danielle shared a video of the Barker pulling up to the Ore Dock, too. Nice to hear the waves and see her moving along, slowly, but surely to tie up and take on a load.

Nice Photos & Video! I hope you all have a successful, healthy & safe season. Here's to calm seas and avoiding the virus!!
Very nice indeed! I just received a case of TP from Amazon, so I'm happier than a pig drinking Schlitz.

Alex, I have to remember that 'pig drinking Schlitz'; it'll clean up my vocab somewhat.

I can’t tell you how happy I am that the boats are back! I woke up this morning to the sounds of the Oberstars engines as they departed!!
