It’s always a pleasure when an email arrives from Joe Kirkish, because I know there will a photographic treat from somewhere here UP North. Today’s gem was taken on a ride Joe took into the countryside, south of Houghton. He said he came upon this colorful field, with the beautifully clouded sky and one shot was all he needed to get it...the perfect summer day in the Copper Country.
Then to contrast the sunshine and puffy white clouds, we have a shot of an approaching storm front over the Quincy Mine Shaft, snapped by George C. Bailey. The coloring of the clouds make the sky look like a wavy Lake Superior.
Today’s video is a short one, but echos the above photos with clouds and a storm cell over Houghton, yet bluer skies as it spans further along the canal at the end of the video. Compliments of Upper Peninsula of Michigan/FunInTheUP.

Looks like the video was taken from Quincy or nearby.

Meditate on this: 59 percent of out wilderness areas are smaller than Disney World!
