When Beth Jukuri heads out on her Chassell to Tapiola rural mail route, she has to watch for animals crossing the road, deer, turkeys, racoons, maybe a fox or two, but she doesn’t usually have to watch for fish. That’s right, I said fish. With all the flooding over the country roads along the Sturgeon River this spring, there have been a couple roads that she wasn’t able to get through. And then this past week, she was driving along and saw a fish in the road. Beth said she got out of her vehicle and tried to help him cross into deeper water but it kept flopping back into the shallows. She also mentioned that eagles hang out along the river- so maybe it was their dinner. At least she tried to save it.
Speaking of flooding, recently they opened the dam gate at Bond Falls a little more to let some of the built up water run off. Today’s video, published by Running Bear Resort in Paulding, gives a look at the raging water, rushing and splashing up over the road even. There’s lots of power in raging water like that.

Venezuela crisis...All society is like a stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you get a lot of scum on top!

Good for Beth doing her best to save her finny friend. Sorry it wouldn't cooperate!
