More “after the storm” photos, these snapped in the Marquette area by Laurie Bashaw, with the first three from Presque Isle. Did you know that Presque Isle is French for “almost an island” and is used to label a number of land masses on the Great Lakes that are attached to the mainland by a narrow neck of land? I found that an interesting tidbit to share. Anyway, Laurie said that she had never seen the pier lighthouse covered in ice before, as they always err on the side of caution and stay home during a storm like the blizzard we had last week, but she’d sure like to see it first hand... maybe one time.

The last three shots Laurie snapped on the North Country Trail there in Marquette. The icy buildup photo is something else with all that ice surrounding the house. Laurie said she can’t even imagine living there during a storm like that, but the person has been living there since the 70’s, so they have experienced many storms there on the shores of Lake Superior. Must be pretty wild!

And speaking of wild, 906 Images recorded a video that he labeled - “Lake Superior was wicked on Wednesday!!” He said the waves were 20 – 25 feet with the winds blowing at 50 mph. He’s looking at the Blackrocks there in Marquette. This is the spot where people jump in Superior in the summer. Those rocks are around 18 – 20 feet above the water’s edge at their highest point and those waves washing over them make the rocks look much smaller than that. He estimates they received 22 inches of snow with this storm. Check it out!

N-n-n-Icy set! And no matter how
you describe Presque Isle, it’s a UP
Gem.
And violent video as well. I’m suiting
UP for a dip…a Ranch dressing dip
and pizza for breakfast…mmm.

Wow..stunning pictures for sure and that
video...wow. Mother Superior when she gets wilded
up!! They just found another shipwreck..

"The Western Reserve, a 300-foot steel steamer,
broke in two as it wrecked in 1892 about 60 miles
northwest of Whitefish Point in Lake Superior. When
the wreckage was found, the bow section had rested
on top of the stern in nearly 600 feet of water."

Pics look amazing again today and that video is
wild!! We used to go out there during the winter and
stand way off and distant same with the lighthouse.
Very dangerous place to be if you're not careful.

Donna, very interesting discovery about the Western
Reserve, thanks for pointing it out. Although the
name sounds like an expensive bottle of whiskey. lol

The 5th photo made me think of Thelma & Louise!

Maybe there (was) a UP version of them?
