When Debbie Jarve made a recent drive to check out the Eagle River Falls, she found it covered in snow and thick ice in places, but she also found that there was still water flowing underneath and around that ice. It’s pretty amazing how thick that ice forms when the temperatures get to those freezing marks. Even when the falls aren’t flowing freely, they’re still something to behold. I love how Debbie zoomed in on the ice so we can see it up-close, without really having to be right there. And then she turned around to capture Eagle River flowing under the wood timber traffic bridge that takes M-26 on to Copper Harbor.
Today’s Visit Keweenaw video features Jim Kurtti – President of the Copper Country Finns and Friends (formerly the Copper Country Finlandia Foundation) talking about Heikinpaiva last January. Much of the festivities for 2025 are about the same, with January 25th as the big day for events in Hancock. Nice pictures! They definitely have a beauty all their own. My favorite is the water under the bridge. I love that bridge. It's a favorite for getting pictures when we stop.

My favourite village in the whole of the UP....I live in St. Agnes, Cornwall, UK. and used to visit nearly every Winter for the deer season, staying in Eagle River with the Treganowans.
