Beth Jukuri took advantage of a gorgeous November day with above normal temperatures last week and headed to the shores of Lake Superior at McLain State Park. It must have been a lull in the winds day, as we’ve been getting lots of windy days of late, but this day, the Big Lake was calm, the sun was shining and the scenery was refreshing. Beth noted on the second photo, how interesting it was to see the high water mark and figured it must have been from the windy day, she was last there.

The bonus was in her third photo, where you can see a part of a Sun Dog in the sky over the beach. It just so happens that I was out for my walk on that same day, having waited for the rains to subside and I took a photo of the same Sun Dog, from the Rice Lake Road outside of Lake Linden. It’s pretty neat that Beth was seeing this Sun Dog at McLain State Park and then about 18 miles away, I’m seeing the same thing right near my home.

We join Sparrow Outdoors for a look at the History of the Early Copper Boom in the Upper Peninsula. The lead-in to the video says: “This video depicts the history of some of the lesser known Copper Mines in Upper Michigan. Deep in the woods of Ontonagon County, Michigan, there lie dozens of abandoned mines whose names are all but forgot. Their ruins tell the story of Upper Michigan's beginnings and the industry that helped build the young American Nation. My friends and I have spent a long time exploring these woods and have come to appreciate the legacy of these little gems hidden in the backcountry. Enjoy a glimpse into the history of this fascinating region!”

Perfect…how could you not like this set?
I’ve never been to McLain State Park, so
the first pic was like walking down the
Superior Brick Road to unknown adventures.
Nice video, but the dialogue quality was a
little hard to understand at times.

Mt. Bohemia got second. It's in the Keweenaw Reporter. My first stop in the morning.

What gorgeous pics...I LOVE the sundogs. McClain's looks awesome. I wish my lil wheely walker could do sand, etc...and I know they make them, but they also charge big bucks for them. This one I don't like even in winter...the wheels aren't made with traction. Anywho...if they did...I could pick some agates! Although, winter is enroute...there's white on the ground today!

I love these! McLain is always a
wonderful place to go. And I love
the sun dogs. Nice job, ladies.

On a side note, Donna have your
tried asking little brothers about
a different walker? Just a
thought.

Donna, figure out what walker you want, send me a website link and i'll order one for you. Oh, and send me the delivery address.

The first picture is my favorite - another perfect 'path' picture!

I love path pictures, too. There's
just something about them that
grabs me.

The second photo of the shoreline really shows the problems the State Park has been having with erosion. The Park has been studying and working on the problem mainly because so many campsites are maybe a bit too close along the shoreline.

Thank you so, so much JBuck...but it's becoming
winter....won't be picking agates now!!

You are just a beautiful soul. Thank you again!
