Fritz doesn’t let any moss grow under his feet or his human’s either. They’ve been busy paddling around Houghton and the Keweenaw. The Mackinac Bridge doesn’t have anything over the Portage Lake Lift Bridge when it comes to Labor Day activities, as Jeff, Chris and Fritz Dennis began a new tradition, the Labor Day Bridge Paddle. Maybe it will become an annual event and with paddling a kayak, there’s no having to close down the Bridge for hours that day, so I’m betting it will catch on.

But Fritz wasn’t satisfied with just a Labor Day paddle, no, he dragged Jeff and Chris out for a sunset cruise along the shores of Lake Superior in the Keweenaw. And even that wasn’t enough, so the Dennis paddlers headed out to Little Traverse for an evening paddle to watch the setting sun. They lit up one of the kayaks with an LED camping lantern in the back of the kayak. You know, that’s not a bad idea if you’re going out around sunset, it will help other boaters to see you in the water, not to mention it will illuminate your way.

We end today with a short video Jeff took when the waves were rolling in and the sun was setting behind the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse. Stunning colors in the sky!

What gorgeousness. WOW...I love the reflection of Chris's paddle across the water...that's really cool. Sometimes, I'm checking the Tech webcams, and you can see lots of boats up and down the Portage there, and around the bridge. Sometimes when I hear the Ranger's horn, I'll look and watch the boat go under the bridge, and then the bridge lowers and you watch traffic again. Different view than from the car!
