The Two-Hearted River area is in the eastern U.P., located in McMillan Township in Luce County. The river winds through forested wilderness for about 23.6 miles and eventually drains into Lake Superior, north Newberry. Marcy Bessolo Hermanson was recently there doing some exploring, along with a bit of Rock Hunting.

The Two-Hearted River Bridge that you take to cross the river is a pretty unique structure. According to Lost in Michigan, it is a one of a kind suspension bridge with wood planking, which gives you a strange feeling walking over it as it bounces and sways. But once you cross over it, it’s a great place to enjoy the refreshing water of Lake Superior and a good place to go rock hunting for your favorite rocks. You can see Marcy’s nice find in the bottom photo.

Speaking of Rock Hunting...let’s join Rob from Michigan Rocks at Perry’s Landing and Two-Hearted River area for a Rock Hunt from a few years ago. Rob crosses the Bridge in the video, too!

Hi
Looks like fun. Our beach on Lake Huron usually has
a mix of sand (good for swimming & sitting) and
rocks (good for rock hunting). In fact, that's a
normal part of a beach walk. Having done beach walks
for about thirty years, though, I have to restrain
myself from bringing any more stones up to the
cabin. OK, if there's a really NICE one, I'll pick
it up. ;>))

Very cool pictures. Marcy's
adventures are always so much fun.
And she almost never gets skunked
when she's out agate hunting.
She's got the eye. Nice job,
Marcy.

I watched the D-Day Ceremony today. They think it's
the last one any soldier that was there today, will
ever see another one. They are in their 90's and
100's...It is so unreal what men and women have
done for this Country, and the World!

Bless all our Warriors, past, present and hopefully
not future!

The blue skies, the clouds, the shorelines
…are all classic UP!
And “Michigan Rocks” is the name of
Paul Brandes book. Which came first,
the Paul or the Ron???
A shout-out to D-Day vets!
Like 911, that was an event that should
not be forgotten. Thousands of Americans
lost their lives while saving ours.
I just hope that I’ve earned it.

Thanks for adding another one of my videos. This is an old one!
Hopefully, it's still entertaining. Oh, and my YouTube name came well
before Paul's book title. We decided to settle that one out of court
though. Specifically we settled it on a beach with me congratulating
Paul on a job well done.

The mouth of the Two Hearted River is a nice stop on the way to the Crisp Point Lighthouse. When I was there, they had a nice boat ramp installed.

Donna,
I think the same thing about the vanishing WW2 Vets. Assuming a minimum of 18 years old in 1944, the youngest today would be 98. Of course there were those that lied about their age. The estimate I heard was less than 1% remain alive.

My father would never speak of of his history. When I asked what he did to be awarded the Bronze Star all he would ever say is "I stayed alive". Many years after his passing, at his older brother's 80th birthday, I learned from him just what kind of hero my father was.
