Chris Hendra, over at Chris Hendra Photography has the patience of a saint when it comes to sitting in his photography blind waiting to capture birds in all their glory. Today he starts us off with a Female Belted Kingfisher with what appears to be Dragonfly larvae in its beak. Chris said it’s impressive how they can see it in the dark water, let alone diving in to get it. That’s for sure.
We move on to an American Tree Sparrow and then an Eastern Phoebe. They’re in the process of migrating back for breeding. The Chickadee stays around these parts year round, but look how small these three are and so lightweight that they can perch on the reeds of cattails. Pretty and fun to watch as they flit about.
So many things fascinate me about birds, but one thing I’ve always wondered about is, “How Do Birds Find Worms?” All Things Birdie shares their observations on the question, along with what senses they use and how they are able to pull a worm out of the ground in one attempt.
