Bob Fleury, over at 906 Superiorland Sunrises was out last week in the early morning to capture a sunrise amidst the lake effect clouds in the air. What a beautifully, peaceful morning and even with the lake effect clouds, the sun still managed to shine through it all, kind of giving the scenes a mystical feeling.
In the third photo, you see the publicly funded Lady of the Lake Memorial Statue that was placed there at Picnic Rocks Park, dedicated to those who have lost their lives in the currents of Lake Superior. The plaque facing the camera reads: “In these calm but treacherous waters of Lake Superior, sixteen lives have been lost since 1961. This memorial serves to honor those lives and the lives of the ones before them. Through this knowledge, from this day forward, may no more lives be lost.” “WHEN IN DOUBT DO NOT GO OUT’
We take a look at the history of one of the world’s oldest condiments. TED-Ed traces the history of ketchup, from the condiment’s origins in 3rd century China, to becoming a staple of American cuisine. Some folks even put it on pasties!

Great shots of Marquette - thanks! Calm waters that morning but even then the currents at Picnic Rocks can be treacherous.
Still have my last bottle of Toivo and Eino's REALLY SECRET Pasty Sauce. The best!

Beautiful pix! “Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning Born of the One Light Eden saw play Praise with elation, praise every morning God's re-creation of the new day” (Cat Stevens)
Interesting video…I remember when the Board of Education made ketchup a vegetable to comply with the lunch program requirements.

I love naked trees....I love Winter because of the simple beauty.
That Angel of the Lake is so beautiful.
Yep, some folks do ketchup on pasty. Some do gravy (gotta admit, I've not tried that one). Some like butter. There's now the "Hot" ketchup...hot sauces, etc. What do you like?? I usually prefer butter, but ketchup is right up there too.

Donna, I'm plain right out of the oven. But if they're reheated, I usually use ketchup. And I big glass of milk to go with it.

I used A-1 "THICK AND HEARTY" steak sauce. It's good on any meats including hot dogs.

Tip; pour it on the side and dip the pasty in it. It's pretty strong, so use sparingly.

Beautiful pictures of the upper harbor and the hot pond spent a lot of time there as Jbuck did too I’m pretty sure!
Ketchup or any great hot sauce for me. But, if I’m driving up or down state and I’ve got a hot Lehto’s in my hand… no condiments. Gotta have that ice cold Diet Coke at the ready too, no third degree burns allowed! Oh yeah if in Munising, Muldoons is another great one!!
MTU at 2 PM against Boston College, TCB TECH!!
By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Friday, March 29, 2024 - 06:11 pm:
Oh well, they didn’t fare too well. No Championships this season for MTU or NMU. Sure would be nice to see both programs return to prominence!!

Yes, UC, a lot of good times spent in that neck of the woods! Sure has changed, hasn't it?
Sorry to see MTU fall too. Rivals, yes, but have to root for our YOOP teams!
