Yes, it’s just about mid March, not the end of the month, but there have been a number of beautiful sunsets and sunrises lately, so it’s time to share a few with you all. We start out with a beautiful sunset from McLain State Park, snapped by Dave Dalquist. What a perfect shot with the splash capturing some of the color, too. You can see more of Dave’s photography here: Photos.Waterholic.com

The second photo is a sunrise from last week and was taken by Brita Haapala. She had this to say about the beautifully colored sky, the unusual March weather and what her kids have been up to: “The March to remember….they rip the snowmobile around on the snow, then get out the golf clubs, then shoot some baskets in the street. The only thing they’re not doing is skating on the pond.” Looks like the last comment is a good thing, considering the warmer weather lately!

Number three in the photo lineup is from Deb Simons. What a stunning way to say ‘Good morning Lake Linden!’ That’s one of the St. Joseph Catholic Church steeples standing tall in the rising sun, reminding us who to thank for this beautiful start to the day.

And finally we join Beth Jukuri in Chassell where the sun coming UP was looking like a fire in the sky. Such a gorgeous start to her day, which Beth also hoped was a good one for us all!

We started at McLain State Park and we’re finishing up there, with Visit Keweenaw, who says:...”As the days get longer, McLain State Park starts to wake up from a long winter slumber. As we start to imagine warm summer days picking rocks along the shoreline, spring brings new life to McLain.”

I just had a call from Uncle Chuck. He wanted to let us know that he's been absent, as he's in the hospital getting IV antibiotics for an infection in his leg. He didn't want us all to be worrying why he hasn't posted.
I'm asking you all to keep him in your prayers, that the Drs. can get that infection under control and he can get back home. Hugs to UC!

How gorgeous...Way too hard to pick one.
Vid is cool too.

McLain Park included in mdnr investment into park infrastructure

One more link about state park closures this summer. McLain is in the list, check it out on the link: MIDNR

I absolutely love all of these. My
favorite is mine only because of
the church steeple. I love that
view on mornings like these.

UC, so sorry to hear you're in the
hospital. Sending prayers and good
vibes that you are soon well and
back home.

By Donna (Donna) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 - 10:54 am:

BIG hugs UC!

Hi
My favorite is the sunset splash at McLain State
Park, but they are all nice.

Get well wishes to Uncle Chuck.

By George L. (Yooperinct) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 - 01:08 pm:

Hope it's a short hospital stay, UC. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Remember, they'll discharge you as soon as you start getting fresh with the nurses!

By Alex (Alex) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 - 02:59 pm:

UC...what's UP, dude? Hope it's not to serious or
have the dogs been give'n you a beat-down again?
Next time try opening a can of dog food.
And all this time I thought you were UP north.
Behave yourself and like George said; Start ogling
the nurses and they'll kick you out.

Excellent set of pix! I had to check my calendar to
see if it was the end of the month...the first one
is a doozy.

By Alex (Alex) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 - 03:08 pm:

And a nice video! Can you feel it?

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 - 08:18 pm:

This is coming from my iPhone so I apologize for any mistakes
upfront. Thanks for the well wishes. I had a diabetic ulcer on my
leg. That did become infected down in my foot long story short the
antibiotics are working and I just need to take it easy to avoid
surgery. Thanks again for the well wishes Alex and George, you
made me laugh out loud today literally, thanks. It’s all systems go
for a trip up north this summer provided I don’t need surgery down
the road so I’m doing what I’m told believe it or not lol. . Voice
messaging is great when it works.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 - 08:21 pm:

SHEESH, I forgot, the pictures and video are just fantastic as
always. Thanks Mary for everything.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 - 08:29 pm:

Deb, Donna & Kathy… thanks to you ladies as well. Forgetful right
now, but pain meds are great lol
“Take a trip and never leave the farm!” :-)

By D. A. (Midwested) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 - 10:58 pm:

Fabulous photos all. I'm wondering how or why there's apparently much more sediment inside the canal. It's certainly a different color. You can see it at 0:05 seconds in and again at 1:20.

U.C.
You get better soon! I KNOW you'll follow directions. I just started taking an antibiotic for a skin infection too, oral though but I feel for ya.

I could see setting up camp at McLain next week if this weather continues. Sigh! They don't open til May 15th. I see all the weekend reservations are filling up. Baraga opens May 1st. Who knows, maybe an Easter blizzard is coming.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Thursday, March 14, 2024 - 06:06 am:

Thanks D.A., I know what you mean about setting up camp and
you’re right lol… there’s a blizzard or two still in the offering yet!!
Well they just started a new IV antibiotic and that pump is singing
me back to sleep. I’m sure that when I am discharged, I too will be
leaving with oral meds as well.

Have a great day Pasty fam!!

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Thursday, March 14, 2024 - 06:13 am:

I could watch this video once daily/365!!

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Thursday, March 14, 2024 - 08:07 am:

Wow, along with all the spectacular photos yesterday there was a lot of news!

First of all, many prayers for healing coming your way UC! Glad you are right where you need to be to get the healing going in the right direction.

It's so unfortunate the State decided to do all the upgrade projects this Summer - right after a terrible Winter season for the Yoop. And the Tip of the Mitt is struggling and there are multiple closures there too. The businesses which depend on tourists sure don't need this!!!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, March 14, 2024 - 10:08 am:

D.A., I'm sure we'll get a
blizzard or two yet also. I really
hope it stays nice, though,
because Ron's shoulder replacement
is in early April and I doubt I
can handle a lot of snow myself.
Fingers crossed.
