Since the snow has finally arrived in the Copper Country, Chad Johnson decided to take an evening ride around Calumet and Laurium, checking out the historic buildings in the area. The snow settled on all the nooks and crannies of these old buildings gives them a magical look and Chad captured these enchanting scenes perfectly.
There is so much history in the area, but I’m going to highlight two of the buildings...the first building, the Copper Country Firefighters History Museum on 6th Street in Calumet, was once the 1898 Historic Red Jacket Village Fire Station, so it not only house the firefighters history, but is historic in itself. For the history of this historic building, click here: Copper Country Architects – Red Jacket Village Fire Station
Then in the last photo, this Laurium building houses a portion of the antiques, books, LP record albums and collectibles of the Yard Sale, but once housed the First National Bank. You can read more about this historic building here: Copper Country Architects – First National Bank
Now we join Steve Brimm for what he calls a “10 cent tour of 6th street dock” in downtown Copper Harbor. Someone commented that they love these little crumbs of Copper Harbor that Steve drops. Indeed, I think we all do!

When I lived UP there many years ago, being young and foolish, I once drove my car through the arch of the Calumet Theater on a dare and a bet. If I'm not mistaken the Calumet Police Station was just around the corner . . . and yep, I won the bet. Great pics today. Love how the snow highlights the buildings.

These are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fabulous...Chad showed me some earlier.....and they need to be in a magazine, or in some showcase someplace. They are just so stunning. Some Architecture study place, something.....these are beautiful!

I love these pictures. They all remind me of a beautiful Christmas scene. Spectacular. Cool video, too.

Classy buildings! I took 4 years of drafting classes in high school and was going to become an architect, but went the accounting /tax route instead to design refunds. And a short but sweet video. A new decibel level set at the Lions game; 134.3 which is louder than a jet engine.

Very interesting and eye-pleasing photographs. It appears that the camera or post processing used some sort of HDR (High Dynamic Range) or some other filter. Very nice looking.
