Laurie Bashaw and her hubby Ed Korpi took a drive to Germfask on M-77, south of Seney, to find a new resident camper at the Northland Outfitters Campground, named Benny the Beard Fisher. Benny is 14 feet tall and is actually the 117th wooden troll that sculpture artist, Thomas Dambo from Cophenhagen, Denmark created. Dambo completed this art installation in July of this year, using mostly recycled wood from a U.P. based flooring company.
You can see from Laurie’s second photo, just how big Benny is as he sits on the banks of the Manistique River fishing. What a neat attraction the owners of the campground have now, whether on land walking up to him or by water paddling by him, he delights both young and old alike. There is an upcoming children’s book to be published by the artist featuring Benny. When it becomes available, the campground will be offering the book for sale in their gift shop.
The video from Allan Ross brings you for an up close look at Benny with views of him from the river, too. I think Benny may just be the first troll to reside above the Bridge!

These are just awesome pictures. He is so large! The video was cool also. But Mary, your line was my favorite. "Benny may just be the first troll to reside above the Bridge." That made me happy that I wasn't drinking anything when I read it, lol.

Interesting pix but they freaked me out a bit. The stuff nightmares are made of. But still, they are a labor of love.

YES, Mary great line, lol. I must say I'm kinda in agreement with Alex and D.A.. I hope I don't wake up tonight and see that staring at me through the window. lol, If I did, I'd have to ask Vic what she put in my meatloaf this evening. :=))
It is a big piece of artwork for sure.
