Continuing from yesterday’s drive with H. Donn de Yampert, another stop he made was at the Jacobsville Lutheran Chapel, which was established in 1888. Donn mentioned that there was a little rain and plenty of mosquitoes in God’s place there in Jacobsville. Take a look at his bottom photo, that was his way to keep the mosquitoes at bay.
I did a little online searching and found the following information about the Jacobsville Lutheran Chapel on the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock. “In 1952, the church became the property of Gloria Dei and in 1975 efforts began to restore the old chapel. With the help of local congregations, interested individuals, and Lutheran Brotherhood, the Jacobsville Chapel received some much needed attention. In 1987 it became part of the Michigan Historic Site registry. Since then, Sunday evening vespers services have been held during the summer. The following link has more information and photos from the inside of the church, also. Jacobsville Chapel
On our video today, Stefano Ianiro shares “Incredible Bird Migration”, saying “Bird migration is the busiest, and most exciting time of the year for birders. I spent 24 hours on my wildlife homestead trying to see as many species as I could! I'll be donating a portion of the AdSense earned this month to the Canadian Red Cross to help fight the wildfires spreading through Quebec. This one is just over 18 minutes, so sit back, relax, and enjoy.

Interesting pix! Don’s head gear could also be used as a bridal veil.

Someplace in Jacobsville, is an old cemetery. Many headstones are in Finnish. What a cool old Cem.
The inside of that church is just amazing. To think of the old pioneers and how they managed is so amazing to me. You HAD to be tough to do anything U.P. here~!
Love the vid. That dude is gonna have a blast on his homestead!~

It is just amazing how vibrant the greens are! We've been to the old church and it's looking better than ever! Great solution to the skeeter problem.
Donna, did you transcribe part of the Jacobsville Cemetery? When i look at the online records the owner says "Donna" on many of the pages.
