Debbie Jarve has been out and about lately and captured some beautiful flowers that are blooming here in the Keweenaw right now. My very favorite is first, beautiful to look at and the scent is absolutely divine...Lilacs. I wish someone had created scratch and sniff for this one. Then my second favorite is the Lily of the Valley, which also has a beautiful scent...even though the bell-shaped flowers are small, they pack a powerful scent that always reminds me of spring.

Switching over to feathers, Debbie spotted several Turkey Vultures in a tree and snapped a shot of one. They aren’t a very pretty bird and if you’re concerned about your small pets, they really only eat dead flesh, so they aren’t going to come after and grab your pets. Still, though, when they’re circling above, it’s kind of an eerie feeling. She also captured a shot of an Bald Eagle that looks like he’s squawking at someone or something. Just look at the size of those talons on his feet. That’s why they can be flying and dip down to grab a fish right out of the water.

Debbie also recorded a video of the Eagle, with several crows dive bombing and teasing the Eagle. It always amazes me that these birds that are much smaller than them, do this and get away with it. I have read that the crows and other smaller birds do this to defend their nests. We often see seagulls going after the Eagles flying in the air. I wonder why the Eagle seems like it isn’t really bothered by it that much?

I'm with Mary on these first two pictures.
They smell divine. At some hyacinths to
them and the smell would be glorious. Also
busy love that Eagle picture.

Very cool pix and video! And that eagle is minding its own business.

Hi
My guess is that the eagle thinks it would be a
waste of energy to try to catch any of a flock of
smaller, more maneuverable birds.

Speaking of eagles, I was fortunate enough to see a
young (still dark feathers) bald eagle trying to
catch fish in Lake Huron. It was out in front of our
place near Cheboygan, when I was up there for
Memorial Day weekend.

Way gorgeous...and I LOVE Lily of the Valley
first, then the lilac...I'm opposite of Mary and
Deb. lol

Anyway, my first thought on the birds, is that the
Eagle has an eye on Crow babies, and Mom and Dad
are not happy, but they'll win. I was talking with
a friend today, about the hijinks of crows. I love
them...they are just fun to watch, and they are
awesome at teasing other birds, and they always
win. Love them...

(Hey Lou! lol)
