We ended last week exploring with Nancy Haun and we’re starting out this week tagging along with her again. This time we’re in the Skanee area checking out the rising water last week on the Huron River at Big Erick’s Bridge. Nancy said she’s never seen it quite like this before and was feeling sorry for the fishermen that were camped nearby, as they probably wouldn’t be doing any fishing with the river raging like these photos show. I’m sure the rain and snow we received made the waters rise even more and you can see in several of Nancy’s photos that the trees along the sides of the river were already in the water with the flooding.
Nancy also made a video that you can hear the roar of the river and see the power as the water goes raging by. Her commentary is always quite informative, too. The video is actually two videos in one and is just under fourteen minutes because of that. If you recall Nancy’s photos from this past Saturday, May 6th, we had visited the Peshekee River near Champion/Michigamme and saw the Canadian National train just crossing the bridge over the river. In the second half of Nancy’s video we get to see the CN actually going over the bridge!

WOW - what power there is in all that water. Nancy is braver than i am - with all the failed bridges this Spring i don't think i would have walked out on it!

What gorgeous, powerful pictures. And that video is amazing. But I'm with jbuck. I would never have stood on that bridge. You're a brave woman, Nancy!

Yowsers! Thanks Nancy. Always enjoy your outings.
I expect my friend Manu from Negaunee isn't fishing there anytime soon. Here's what Big Eric's Bridge looked like in the Fall. What a difference.
