So, today’s photos from a trio of photographers show the reward we all enjoyed at the end of the storm on Saturday evening last weekend. The sunset was spectacular and it was captured by Jean Dessellier in Traprock Valley. Just look at the different colors in that shot!
Then Jamie Rowe snapped the next two photos somewhere UP in the Keweenaw. The glow over Lake Superior was outstanding. You can see how stirred up the Big Lake still was in the third shot.
Down in L’Anse, they had a beauty of a sunset, also. Diane Richard took the bottom photo from the L’Anse Marina. It was a beautiful end to the St. Patrick’s Day storm and to the end of the weekend for the Baraga Vikings girl’s basketball team, who took home the title of State Runner Up of MHSAA D4 Basketball fianls. UP PROUD! Congratulations, girls!
Meanwhile at WhitefishPoint, on Whitefish Bay, Frances Czapski was out before sunrise one morning early last week and captured today’s video. She says that even though it’s been a mild winter and a short ice season on Whitefish Bay, she’s always excited to hear open water gurgling, the ice creaking and moving again. It was 17° and a bit breezy from the northeast this day. She added that spring is right around the corner and the winds during the storm last weekend pushed the ice out of the Bay where they now have open water there again. Wow! These are beautiful! But my favorite is the first one. Stunning! It's weird to hear the sound of the lake without wave action. Very nice.
