The folks in Houghton have been busy decorating the town for February with lights and hearts. Julie Waara captured some photos around the town to show off the added colors and love that’s been spread around. Someone even made a snowman on the waterfront dock, just sitting there chilling...how fun is that? And the Miner that welcomes folks as they come into the downtown area from College Avenue is decorated with hearts on the evergreen wreath he’s holding. Everything is looking quite festive with all that love in the air and we sure can use more love in the world.

We’re joining WCMU Public Media from Central Michigan University for an episode of Destination Michigan as they look at winter in the U.P. where they state that winter gets done right. They’re heading north for the Keweenaw with stops in Marquette and Houghton. So sit back for 25 minutes and travel along with them.
