Tami Dupuis Michaud lives in Switzerland now, but you can’t take the Yooper out of a born in the Keweenaw girl. She’s been home for a visit and for her job, but all work and no play makes for a dull time, so she recently made a winter hike into the Tahquamenon Falls and declared it a “spectacular U.P. winter day”. You can see from her photos that she was in the midst of quite the snow squall, which made for some outstanding winter shots. The snow-covered stairs and bridges along the trail and the snow-white boardwalk all made for some careful navigating on this wintry hike. I think my favorite photo is the fresh beaver gnawing...that’s a good size tree and it looks like it’s not too far from “timber”!

And if the photos aren’t quite enough for you, check out the video Tami made of the falls raging and foaming. The amount of water going over the falls is nothing short of amazing. Make sure your speakers are on so you can hear the volume of water, too.

Tahquamenon is gorgeous any time of year - thanks Tami! Wonder if she went across the new bridge? Perhaps it isn't open in the Winter.
