Jean Dessellier snapped the first three photos a couple days ago and said that once the snow came it brought back some hungry deer looking for apples in their backyard. If these critters are smart, they’ll hang around at the Dessellier ranch for the next two weeks so they’re safe from the hunters.

The bottom two photos come to us from Krista Poirier who spotted this albino squirrel in her Mom’s Lake Linden backyard. It’s certainly not something you see everyday and with the snow on the ground, it would be easy to miss if you weren’t paying attention. What perfect timing that Krista was there to capture the moment.

We’re going back to summer for today’s video from Dr. Nat. She’s at Fort Wilkins State Park in Copper Harbor, filling us in on the mine shaft of the Pittsburgh and Boston Mine, an early copper mine attempt in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Hoping for a safe hunting season and good luck to all the hunters out there.

An apple a day keeps Dr. Remington away!

And another sweet video by Dr. Nat, so she can stay!

There was a family of albino squirrels in Dollar
Bay a few decades back..they are beautiful. Then
there's the black ones...some of them mated with
the grays...and we had some cool colors running one
summer~

Good Luck hunters....somebody please bring me some
vennie!

Hi
Donna, I'd be interested in what colors you saw for
the squirrels. As you probably know, black squirrels
are the same species as the gray squirrel; it's just
a coat color variation. Like some black bears come
in cinnamon brown.

They look just like the 3 that visit us all
the time. They're so pretty. Cool looking
squirrel also.

Nice seeing you Dr. Nat.
