When you live near the woods, you get visitors in your back yard that are fun to watch. Deb Simons and her hubby Ron have a fun pastime keeping an eye on the deer that visit their yard. She said they had been hoping to see the mother and her twins, as they had seen a dead fawn on the hill and were hoping it wasn’t one of them that had been coming around their place. Deb and Ron go up on the “tracks” near Lake Linden with their side by side and pick apples for these visitors so they don’t eat their garden, plus they have the tomatoes and cucumbers fenced in. That last picture is Otis...Deb said he likes to watch the deer and this day, the doe didn’t chase him away from her babies.

We’re hooking up with Michigan Rocks and Michigan Rockhounds again, for an adventure at the Cliff Mine where they find some great minerals, drive an interesting trail, find some chisel chips and even share some rock, to saw, to polished footage. It’s a little longer video at just over sixteen minutes, but worth it for the look around and especially the steep rock pile they climb up on, the view is wonderful!

Omgosh, we're just sitting here laughing at
the fact that Otis is now a star. He's
always known he is star material, lol. He's
the neighborhood cat as he's extremely
friendly and they all love him. The first
time mama brought her two Bambi down, Otis
was curious. Mama made sure he lost interest
in a hurry by chasing him across the yard.
It was hilarious. But I'm sure Otis was
confused because, when she came alone, she'd
follow both him and our other cat, Max.
Anyway, enough about Otis. The deer let us
get very close to them. They see us walking
back there with their cucumber and
watermelon peels and they'll come running
down the hill to see what we have. It just
cracks us up. Retired people are easily
amused. The babies are a little more edgy
around us but have gotten better now that
they know we won't hurt them.

Thanks for featuring them, Mary. I know for
sure that Otis will appreciate it, lol.

Feeding those critters is such a Blessing, hey Deb?
I fed them for years, and living where I do now, we
ain't allowed to even feed a bird.

Otis . . . such a handsome tuxedo cat! We have a female tux (Princess Eloise, more often just called Kitty) and we have a painted stone in our rock garden in her honor. It states: The Cat Runs The Place. We Just Live Here.

Donna, the critters really are a blessing.
We love that they come down with their
babies. I would not like to not be able to
feed them.
George, our other kitty, Max, is also a
tuxedo cat but he's gray and white. He's far
more cautious than Otis is.
Alex and UC, retired is the best job I've
ever had.
We've had 6 deer come to visit this year. We
had a mom and twins, a mom and 1 fawn and,
what we believe to be, a yearling. She was
smaller than the other two. We haven't seen
the mom with only 1 doe in a while. It's
maybe the one that got hit by a car. So sad.
I don't like seeing that. I love animals.
The fawns are really growing. One is getting
quite a bit bigger than the other one. So
we're thinking a buck and a doe maybe. At
any rate, it's been fun watching them.
We've had bears too. There's a mom and two
cubs and a mom with 1 cub. Destructive they
are. They've killed our bird feeders and
broke into the garbage can that we kept the
bird food in. They took both bags with them.
Never a dull moment.
