When the winds are blowing, the waves are rolling and a good place to see all that Lake Superior action is Bucky’s, a.k.a. Calumet Waterworks Park. It’s one of Judy Byykkonen’s favorite places to go whether the waves are rocking or not, but on this particular day she was rewarded with some great wave action and captured it quite well. The sun was shining just right to highlight the cresting waves and the shiny, wet rocks along the shoreline. There’s just so much going on in the background and foreground in these photos, that’s what makes them so appealing.

Nathalie Brandes, better known on the Pasty Cam as Dr. Nat, shares her insights into what a Longshore Drift is and what it does, there at the Calumet Waterworks park on a gale storm warning day. Those high winds made it difficult to hear, but Dr. Nat, was up to the task and made her voice heard as she explained what was happening there that day.

Captain. It was great getting together. My
good friend, Mary Drew, also joined us. It
was fun.
