The Swedetown Trumpeter Swans are once again raising a little family in the ponds there in Calumet. Debbie Jarve was there recently and snapped a few photos of them to share with us. Looks like they have four cygnets this year and hopefully they all make it with no predators or weather harming them. Those close-up photos show how soft and fluffy they look, almost like you could reach out and feel their softness. They sure are cute little things.

Debbie also recorded a video of them, starting out in the pond and then Mom and Dad help them cross the road safely. They sure are protective and stay right with them on the walk.

I wonder if geese mess with the little ones?

I know geese and swans are mortal enemies.

Oh wow! What great pix. They are so
gorgeous. I love watching them. Lucky Debbie
to be there to capture this.

I watched the video twice it was so cute. I
don't know a lot about swans other than they
mate for life. And of course there's the
book "The Ugly Duckling", lol. So, does
anybody know why they keep bobbing their
heads up and down? Loved how long it took
them to be sure it was safe for their babies
to cross the road.

Thanks for starting my day off with these.
