Fall means that the apple trees are laden with delicious fruit. Time to preserve some for the winter months. That’s just what Beth Jukuri did after Grandpa and their granddaughter went on an apple picking spree. Beth said she wasn’t thinking that after the picking, the real work begins, so she was grateful that her daughter was free to help teach her niece all about making applesauce. What a great family moment, instilling the love of preserving fresh, homegrown food for the winter months. If you haven’t done any canning, just know it’s a lot of work, but so worth it to have a pantry full of food that you have “put up” yourself. It’s great knowing exactly what you’re eating, no additives included. If you’ve been following the adventures of Beth and her granddaughter here on the Pasty Cam, you know what a lucky little lady she is with all the fun things they do together and the life lessons she is learning.

So after a long day of making applesauce, it’s time to relax. Steve Brimm brings us another 20 seconds video, which he says, “In a world full of chatter, it’s good to be still and listen to the trees”. Shhh... let’s listen together.

Now i feel so lazy! I use an apple peeler/slicer/corer and put it all into the crockpot to cook down. Not as many family memories that way!

Ron and I are with JBuck, lol. So wonderful
that Beth does that, though. I know a lot of
people who still do that and that's wonderful.
Lots of fun memories for sure.

The video was very peaceful. My idea of how
to spend the day. And there were rocks that
would keep Ron busy. Who could ask for more?

Mmmm...Puts me in the mood for a Honeycrisp, which
was developed through a cross-pollination process
at the University of MN. Thank God it didn't start
a pandemic.

I love a good Honeycrisp...but it's Cortland time!
Those are the BEST apples!
