Dottie Abe went to check on the progress of the Swedetown Swans recently and captured them swimming around, looking healthy and well. They’re getting so big now, it’s hard to tell the parents from the youngsters, except their beaks haven’t turned black yet and they remain gray in color. That beak color change usually happens in their first year. The Cygnets remain gray in color until the summer of their second year when they turn white. It will be interesting to see if this family spends the winter or if they’ll fly off to a wintering area soon. Probably sometime in October they will decide to head off to somewhere with ice-free waters.
Steve Brimm, from Steve Brimm Photography is at it again with 20 seconds of Keweehahhhh. Just what we need to slow us down and relax for a bit.
