I can honestly say that I never knew today’s location existed. But thanks to Walter and Jeff Dennis, I do now. This is the Arnheim Fire Tower, also known as the Otter Lake Fire Lookout in Baraga County. It’s a 100 foot tall tower that is accessible by an enclosed construction elevator or a ladder on the outside of the tower. The views can be seen about 68 miles from the tower, including Lake Superior (Keweenaw Bay), Torch Lake, and landmarks such as Huron Mountains, Mt Brockway, Quincy Mine Hoist, Cliff Drive, Point Abbey, & Limestone Mountain. How neat would that be to have on your property. It’s actually for sale and you can see the listing here: 12129 Tower Road, Pelkie, MI.
Walter’s video takes us around the Sturgeon River Wildlife Management Area, complete with ducks swimming below and then for a closer look at the Fire Tower, too.

Two thoughts on that fire tower -- I wouldn't want to be in it or anywhere around it during a thunderstorm; and, when it's occupied, "Watch out for that first step! It's a doozie!"

Really awesome. I lived in Baraga for 15 years and had no idea about this either!!

Cool stuff and the tower is for sale...a steal at $59,000. I always wanted to live in a high-rise condo.

That's quite a deer stand! But on Opening Day you wouldn't want to get 1/2 way up in the elevator and have it quit!
