In case you’re wondering what the ice situation is around the Eagle Harbor area, we have a fresh report from E. Neil Harri and his trusty airplane. In his first shot, you can see the Harbor still has ice, although it looks like it’s breaking up and then further on, the two inland lakes look to be still covered. In the next photo, we get a closer look at the Lighthouse where the ice is more sparse and looking quite thin around there. Photo number three is looking back toward the Harbor, with a nice view of the Marina and the old Coast Guard Station Museum. Looks like the dock there is still iced in at this point.
Neil’s fourth shot is Great Sand Bay and the first thing I noticed was the sand! Last year and maybe a few before that, the beach there had turned all to rocks and now the sand has returned. Great for the beach goers and swimmers, maybe not so great for the rock hounds. But no worries, I’m sure it will change again in a few years.
