Labor Day usually signals the end of summer, so today’s photos courtesy of Eric Stewart are perfect, like a last hurrah for summer on the beach. Eagle Harbor is the locale and of course that’s the Lighthouse in the Kayak View first photo. The building on the left is the Lake Breeze Resort Hotel, which I’m not certain is still in operation. Perhaps someone can clarify that for us in a post below.
Eric’s next adventure was a hike to the top of Mt. Baldy, also known as Lookout Mountain. It’s a three mile hike to the top and normally you have a spectacular view of Eagle Harbor, Lake Bailey and of course Lake Superior, but the day Eric made the trek up there, it was a bit foggy down below. Still a decent view, just not as far extended.
The Beach Critters are Sandpipers I think and if you’ve ever watched them skittering about on the beach, they move pretty fast and are fun to observe.
No Beach adventure is complete without a bonfire in the evening, to sit around and chat with friends. Looks like Eric and his guests had a good fire going to take the chill out of the evening air. Perfect way to end a day!
Our video today, is the perfect way to start a day... with Bob Gilreath, on a peaceful Keweenaw morning, heading out to do some fishing. Looks like there’s a few rollers on the Lake, but still calm and relaxing.
Happy Labor Day!
