This past weekend, the 2nd Annual Bootjack Fun Run/Walk took place despite the rain throughout the morning. The 9.06K (5.6 mile) run/walk began at 9:00 a.m. at Dreamland Restaurant in Bootjack, with several options for running or walking, including the big event, along with a Mini 9.06K ˝ Run/Walk (2.6 miles) and a Super Mini .906K Run/Walk.
The event was well attended, despite the rain, putting a “damper” on things and you can tell from all the smiles on the runners and walkers that they enjoyed the event even though getting wet in the process. There were entrants in raincoats, entrants in strollers, entrants riding piggyback on Dad’s shoulders, entrants walking their dog and even an Uncle/Niece pair of participants. The event this year was dedicated to long time teacher/coach/runner from the area, Bill Fezzey. Registration fees will help support the White City Park, out near Jacobsville.
I think the funniest comment I read on the Bootjack Fun Run Facebook page, was from one of the runners last year who said: “Nothing fun about running 5.6 miles”, but was back this year to run it again, so I guess it really is fun after all.
The last photo was shared by Jean Dessellier and shows all the sponsors of the event, along with the dedication to Bill Fezzey. All other photos were compliments of Friends of the Bootjack Fun/Run.
Sorry, no video of the actual event, but instead one from Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula, about trail running on the Back 9 Trail System, located at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge in Copper Harbor.
FOOTNOTE: Yesterday's photos from George C. Bailey took us on a voyage to see the Eagle Harbor Arch Rock. If you missed yesterday's Pasty Cam, just click here: August 11th, to take a look at them!

You sure can't keep those Yoopers down!
But for me, there's no way the two words "Fun" and "Run" belong in the same sentence! There's nothing "fun" about running at all, never mind in the rain! "Running" is not in my vocabulary!
Although I have done quite a bit of hiking in and around the …
