Spring in the U.P., sometimes means warm enough days to hit the Superior shoreline. If you’re looking for agates, then you can do like Krista Poirier did recently, and head out to Bucky’s, also known as Calumet Waterworks Park. The first two photos were snapped there.
If you’re looking for driftwood, Krista’s second two photos from the shoreline of McLain State Park, show a promising amount of specimens on the beach there. I can’t think of a much better way to spend a sunny spring day, than on the shores of Lake Superior, whether you’re rock hounding, driftwood hunting or just enjoying the fresh air and the Big Lake views.
We’re checking in with Discovering for today’s video, getting some tips on mushrooms, namely Chaga and Morels. It’s almost time for the Morels to start popping out of the ground and you’ll get some good tips on finding and harvesting Chaga for it’s medicinal properties, too. Check it out...

Beautiful pictures. There aren't a lot of bad times to spend on the beaches of Lake Superior. Thanks for sharing.

Nice pix! I have never gone hunting for mushrooms, I already have morals.

My father in law used to go Morel hunting often. He would then always throw them out after deciding he wasn't 100% sure they were safe to eat.

And if you do harvest Chaga, there's a certain time of year to do it...it'll tell ya!
