It’s happening, it’s happening... spring thaw continues to inhabit the Copper Country. Puddles are forming, as you can see in the first photo snapped by Beth Jukuri on her morning walk in the Chassell area. Before you know it, the white will be gone, the puddles dried up and green will begin to bud again. The temperatures are warming up in the afternoon, but the mornings are still cool enough to put an icy crust on some waterholes, like the artistic formation in Beth’s second photo. I don’t know about you, but the kid in me, still enjoys stepping on ice crust like this and hearing it break apart like glass.
I really enjoyed today’s video from Frances Czapski over on the Whitefish Point Facebook page. She captured the sights and sounds of rocks melting out of the ice at Whitefish Point on Lake Superior.

Driveway Thawing Out...what are those pinkish thing-mrey-bobs in the middle of the driveway? I must be getting old, because I could pull up a chair and a six-pack and watch those rocks falling all day long.

Hey Alex, I think that's plastic or cloths hanging on a chain across the driveway.
