What to do when the wind is fierce in the Keweenaw? Hop in your vehicle, pick up a friend and head north to the shores of Lake Superior. There’s ice out quite a ways now, so Cathy McKenzie and her friend Marcy didn’t experience any big waves up close on their adventure last week, but they did find a smattering of blue ice by Esrey Park (if this shot looks familiar, that’s because it’s almost identical to the top photo from January 28th, by E. Neil Harri) If the ladies had brought lunch, they could have brushed off the picnic table in the fourth photo and enjoyed a chilly meal. Cathy related that there were some heavy snow squalls along the way and they managed to get stuck in an unplowed lot in Copper Harbor, but despite that little mishap, they had a fun afternoon enjoying the beautiful sights of the Keweenaw.
Today’s video compilation comes from Don Afman (a.k.a. D.A. (Midwested). He says it’s hot off his editor program, featuring a rare sunny day last week from the webcam at Sunset Bay Campground. He sped it up a bit and added a soundtrack to accompany the setting sun and blowing snow.

WAAAAAY back in the day, you used to be able to go there, stick a couple of bucks in a slit in a little tin building, and walk down the path to pick agates all day long...I spent many, many days there...but the gent that owned it passed, and the property got split up and sold off...it's all "NO TRESPASSING" now...and it was serious agates...mounds and mounds of rock...Such a loss to us ag-nuts. lol

Nice Pic, Cathy. Love them all. And blue ice is so cool looking. D.A. I so loved that video. It was great! Thanks for sharing that with us.
Praying for UC and his surgical team. And praying that this comes to a finish for him, sooner rather than later. It's been a long road for him and Vicki. Take care, UC. We gotcha.
