Laurie Bashaw and her hubby, Ed, don’t let any snow gather under their feet, they were out and about last week, despite the cold temperatures and windchills. They took a drive out to Presque Isle to see if they could find any animals to watch, and were treated to two bucks, with their antlers still attached! She said they had been just commenting that they hadn’t seen any deer out there in a long time. Laurie said there were also a number of turkeys that were quite humorous.

After watching the critters for a time, they did some exploring along the shoreline, capturing the ice and snow coating everything, creating magical scenes of the winter wonderland we enjoy this time of year. Even on the bitter cold days, there’s something to enjoy. Check out those blue skies and sunshine in Laurie’s photos!

Speaking of the bitter cold... the Woodsy Introverts share a glimpse of just that, in the Keweenaw. The lead-in to their video says: “Extremely cold conditions with below zero temperatures in our frozen snowy forest. The cold winter landscape is covered in snow and ice. This is what below zero in the forest looks like.”

Yes! Some pictures with some
color, lol. I just love the deer
pictures, and the blue skies over
the white snow is breathtaking.
That's for the refreshing take on
winter.

Frosty set, but I love the sunshine
and the UP blues!
That may be the same buck in the
photos, it appears to have the same
number of tines…eight.

That is a gorgeous buck, and surprisingly does
still have his antlers!! He's a pretty boy!

Gorgeous pics all over the place, and I love the
video...SQUEAKY SNOW~ If you live in winter..you've
heard that sound!

Alex, there were two bucks, both 8 pointers, when we were on
Presque Isle. There were a few does too, turkeys, squirrels and
assorted birds. Moosewood feeds the birds and the deer are
lucky enough to get some droppings. Otherwise, feeding deer on
Presque Isle is prohibited. We thought it cool that the bucks still
had their antlers. We had a buck in our back yard in Ishpeming the
other day, antlers attached. And, he was following a doe!!

Laurie…thanks for the clarification.
